The idea of this book is to look at how to get into multiple formations with simple tags for your players. The goal is to have specific words that talk to each “moveable” piece. While the formation may contain 2-3 tags, the players only learn the tags that speak to them. This allows a coach to get into as many formations as possible, with teaching his players only a few tags. The saying "plays are expensive, but formations are cheap", is correct. However, using multiple formations can be a huge advantage for the offense, if done correctly. The other goal of this book is to show WHY a formation can help the offense. The use of formation is only good if a coach has a purpose and goal in using them. To do this a coach must understand how the defense will think and adjust as well as what can cause them issues. What advantages does this formation give the offense? Why would an offense want or need to use this formation?
