The D2 tool steel sheet has been precision ground, meets American Society for Testing and Materials International ASTM A681 specifications, and has a standard tolerance. The D2 tool steel grade has high proportions of carbon and chromium for greater resistance to wear than A2 and A6 tool steel. It maintains good dimensional stability when hardened in air.
